Broken Arrow, OK, 02/12/24 – The J.E. & L.E. Mabee Foundation (Mabee Foundation) has awarded Gatesway Foundation a $450,600 challenge grant. This generous grant is in support of Gatesway’s capital campaign, Setting Standards, a transformational housing improvement project for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).

“2023 was the 75^th Anniversary of the Mabee Foundation,” said Michael Goeke, Executive Director of Mabee Foundation. “Our challenge grants are a living legacy to founders, John and Lottie Mabee, because they believed that their philanthropic giving was a powerful catalyst for more generosity. Gatesway has strong roots in the community, and Mabee Foundation was pleased to support their mission of empowering lives.”

Grant funding provided by Mabee Foundation will be instrumental in driving the construction of eight (8) new campus homes, also known as cottages. The project is tailored specifically for individuals with IDD who reside on the Gatesway Campus, and will significantly enhance their day-to-day living experience.

“We are so incredibly grateful for this challenge grant from Mabee Foundation,” said John Feary, Gatesway Board President. “In order to receive the granted funds, we must raise an additional $1 million by October 10, 2024, so we are counting on the community to rally behind Gatesway and help us push the campaign to the finish line, so we can take advantage of the Mabee Foundation challenge funding.”
