Federal Home Loan Bank of Topeka awards $1M in Grant Funding to Gatesway Foundation
Broken Arrow, OK, 12/21/23 – The Federal Home Loan Bank of Topeka (FHLBank) has awarded Gatesway Foundation a grant of $1,000,000 for use toward the Housing Transformation Plan for Adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD). This grant was provided through the FHLBank Topeka – Affordable Housing Program (AHP).
This round of AHP grants provided more than $17 million worth of grant funding to assist multiple projects across the United States. This year’s round of funding will drive renovations of existing homes on the Intermediate Care Facility (ICF) located on Gatesway’s Broken Arrow Campus.
The completion of the new Legacy Home in Broken Arrow in October 2023 is the first of many projects planned for housing and support improvements available to Friends (Gatesway’s name for its clients). These necessary updates Gatesway will continue to make directly align with the Foundation’s focus on quality in all things – housing, care, and life. “We are so grateful for the FHLBank Topeka – Affordable Housing Program’s investment in this project, and for their support in helping us set new standards for housing for individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities,” said Greg Arend, Gatesway CEO.
With this funding, four existing campus homes, also known as cottages, will be remodeled and upgraded to meet the needs of Friends living on the Gatesway Campus. Gatesway is excited to receive this grant award and the continued work on the ongoing Housing Transition and Expansion Project on the Foundation’s Broken Arrow campus.
